While in Las Vegas this past weekend, to shoot a wedding, I wandered through the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden at the Bellagio hotel. There was no question that as far as the Bellagio is concerned, it’s Fall. It also looked like they hired Edward Scissorhands as their landscape designer.

Catch @HouseOfWinehous’ last show of the summer at Wells Street Fall Fest this Saturday!

My good friends House of Winehouse (Voted the Best Tribute Band by the Chicago Reader) are playing not only their last show of the summer, but also their last show for a time period that is to be determined. Lead singer Dana DeLorenzo is leaving the Windy City to pursue her dreams out in LA. Getting to know Dana and the band over the past year, has been a professional highlight of mine and if you have a chance to see them perform together this Saturday, you really should do it.

Dana does a tremendous job at capturing the very essence of Amy Winehouse, while on stage and her vocal abilities are what keeps the fans returning show after show. Prior to seeing House of Winehouse, I knew that the band would be the selling point for me and I was not let down. “Amy” is essentially backed by a very legitimate band that provides an appropriate accompaniment to her vocal stylings. Consisting of Ken Hunnemeder on back-up vocals and guitar, Charlie Drews on bass, Patrick Gunderson on back-up vocals and drums, Jerry Mohlman on trumpet, Ellis Seiberling on trombone and Jay St. Germain on baritone sax, it’s clear that this is no small operation. The Amy Winehouse name might be the initial draw for people to check out House of Winehouse, but it becomes apparent to the concertgoer after the first few notes that this is no mere cover band that they are seeing, rather a very real group of talented musicians doing what they love.
